So fine - I get that Obama campaigned on ending the divisiveness and distractions that have characterized the politics of the last fifteen years in order to solve the urgent problems that face us as a nation. And that somehow justifies letting bygones be bygones after a certain senator from Connecticut repeatedly fucked over his nominal allies.
Ok. Whatever.
So we can expect the Senate Dems to be super friendly to avoid enraging their GOP colleagues "for the good of the country" (the House will still, theoretically, be a den of poo-flinging monkeys).
I'm going to go ahead and go out on a limb to declare EFCA DOA.

This isn't insider baseball, it's a hunch. But they seem to think that being divisive will ruin their chances for moving the Democratic agenda. In fact, it seems that "bringing the country together" is the Democratic agenda right now. And EFCA is sure as hell divisive (at least in the Senate).
To be clear, my record of political prognostications ain't so great (ask dave), so I could be wrong. I hope I'm wrong. But I've got a bad feeling about this.
I think keeping the Lieb on was smart. The below-the-surface republican boner is deflated, and in the end, it wasn't that big of a deal anyway. In an early move, the dems have not only avoided appearing like the neocons in the "all for one or go suck a hosepipe" way, hopefully they actually will avoid operating that way, too.
