A part of me wants to think that the nastiness of the next five months is going to give us an opportunity to finally confront and smash the not-so-just-beneath-the-surface racism that is part and parcel of our nation. But I think I'm being overly optimistic.
This obviously won't be the worst thing we see this election cycle, but what a way to start us off!
